Cannon at Reed’s Bridge Battleground Park in Jacksonville, Arkansas. The site recalls the story of the Battle of Bayou Meto, sometimes called the Battle of Reed’s Bridge, in 1863, in which Confederate forces repelled an attack by the invading Union Army part by burning a key bridge over bayou (or slow-moving stream) and forestalled — but for just 10 days — the fall of the nearby Arkansas capital in Little Rock during the U.S. Civil War.
