Main barn at the University of Vermont's Morgan Horse Farm, near Weybridge,
Vermont. The 215-acre farm and its 1878 main barn were a gift of "Colonel" Joseph Battell -- a prominent publisher, author, and breeder of the handsome Morgans -- to the United States government in 1906. The University of Vermont, which now runs the breeding program, provides educational training to students interested in equine science. Photo by Carol Highsmith.
