Near the east end of and on the north side of the main street of Haley, North Dakota is what local people call "the teacherage." This was a country school that was moved into Haley early in the century. When the enrollment got too large for the small school, the town moved a second, larger one-room school from the country into Haley. This second school since has been removed to a farm in the area to be used as a garage. The first school was used as a residence for the teacher and thus became known as the teacherage.
