Scotty's Castle, CA - Cook House

Cookhouse at Scotty's Castle in Death Valley National Park,California. Construction started on the Cookhouse in 1924. By the late 1930s, Albert Johnson had modified it three times, making it one of the few projects still worked on after most construction stopped in 1931. Over the years it served as employee housing and dining area, guest dining area, and eventually, under the National Park Service, as office space. A fire in 1991 destroyed two-thirds of the building. The National Park Service used entrance fee money in 2010 to rehabilitate the portion of the building still standing at that time and approximate the destroyed part with new construction.
