Kelso, CA - Railroad Depot Museum

The town of Kelso sported a population of around 2,000 during its boom years of the 1940's, but as Diesel replaced steam engines on the railroad, and mining ended in the area, Union Pacific began moving employee's away and the town died.

Today the old Railroad Depot has been preserved as a museum and visitors center for the Mojave National Preserve.
