Aerial view of the Royal Gorge and the high bridge that crosses it in Cañon City, Colorado. The gorge, a canyon of the Arkansas River, is one of the deepest canyons in Colorado, with a maximum depth of 1,250 feet. The canyon is extremely narrow, measuring from 50 feetwide at its base to 300 feet wide at its top as it carves a path through the granite formations below. The bridge is a tourist attraction, crossing the gorge 955 feet above the river.
