Bunkers used for artillery practice at Camp Hale in the Eagle River valley of Eagle County,
Colorado . The camp was a U.S. Army training facility constructed in 1942 for what became the 10th Mountain Division. Many mountain warfare techniques were developed at the camp, where 15,000 troops trained at one time and which was decommissioned immediately after World War II in 1945. Photo by Carol Highsmith.
