The Chicago, Rock Island, & Pacific Railway Depot in Clay Center, Kansas, replaced a structure. The railroad company went into bankruptcy in 1975 and ceased operation entirely in 1980. By 1994, the Clay Center Chamber of Commerce occupied this building and acquired the property by quit claim deed from the Mid States Port Authority on June 1, 1999. The Chamber sold the building to the Clay Center Improvement Foundation in 2004, and the foundation sold it in April 2007. It is located at 308 Court Street. Photo by Kathy Alexander.
