This reconstructed charcoal kiln is an example of how Colliers manufactured charcoal to fuel the furnaces at a row of kilns nearby on the Garden Peninsula. By the mid 1880's over eighty kilns were in operation within ten miles of Fayette. Photo by Dave Alexander.
