Row of historical markers -- smaller than the park's large monuments -- at the Chickamauga portion of the Chickamauga & Chattanooga National Military Park. In November 1863, Union and Confederate forces fought for control of Chattanooga, Tennessee, a railroad hub known as the "Gateway to the Deep South."
