Manchester, GA - President Theatre

The President Theatre and surrounding buildings in Manchester, Georgia. Built in 1935 and opened with the film "Diamond Jim," starring Edward Arnold, the President was originally part of the Martin Theatres chain. The chain's owner, Roy E. Martin, Sr., named the theatre to honor President Franklin D. Roosevelt's presence at the "Little White House" in neighoring Warm Springs. The art deco-style building was designed by architects McKendree Tucker and Albert Howell. Photo by Carol Highsmith, 2017.
