Grand Canyon, AZ - Bright Angel Lodge Memorabilia

Memorabilia inside a room devoted to historial artifacts at the Bright Angel Lodge, which sits near the Bright Angel trailhead used by both hikers and riders on mules to descend into the gorge at Grand Canyon National Park in northern Arizona. Designed in 1935 by architect Mary Colter, who was commissioned by the Santa Fe Railroad to design the hotel and several other buildings in the park, the lodge is surrounded by several small tourist cabins. The display in the foreground is the starched uniform worn by a “Harvey Girl,” a waitress who served customers at Fred Harvey Company restaurants in hotels and dining cars along railroad lines across America in the late-19th and early-20th centuries.
