The Great River Road runs for some 3,000 miles along a collection of state and local roads which follow the course of the Mississippi River through ten states, including Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, Illinois, Missouri, Kentucky, Tennessee, Arkansas, Mississippi and Louisiana. One of the longest National Scenic Byways, it passes through hundreds of river towns and landscapes representing a wide variety of culture, history, nature, and recreation.
