Two of many condominium apartment buildings in Coeur d'Alene, the popular principal city of the northern panhandle of Idaho, not far from the Canadian border. The city's name, taken from an indigenous tribe, translates to "Heart of the Awl" — a pointed tool used for piercing leather — a name given to the tribe by French trappers in recognition of their trading acumen.
