Calumet, MI - Buildings

By 1900, Calumet (then named Red Jacket) had just under 5,000 residents, but in 1913 and 1914, the population began to leave due to a major strike by mining workers. The loss of copper demand after World War I, along with the Great Depression, further lead to the towns decline. Photo by Kathy Weiser-Alexander.
