The Dwight D. Eisenhower Presidential Library, part of a complex in Abilene, Kansas, that includes the Eisenhower family's longtime home. "Ike," as Eisenhower was fondly known, was the Allied forces commander in World War II and later U.S. president. Born in Texas, he lived with his five brothers in the Abilene house from 1892 to 1911, when he entered the U.S. Military Academy at West Point at age 20. Photo by Carol Highsmith.
