This is a scene not just in, but under, Ellinwood, a small town near Great Bend, Kansas. This town on the prairie was booming, and its buildings were busy from their upper floors to the basements. So, in the manner that many of the area's German and Austrian settlers remembered, they built a series of tunnels connecting the underground areas of town. These are (as of 2021) some of the remnants of those days, carefully preserved.
