Shreveport, LA - Palomar Motel Sign

Old sign outside the reconditioned units of the Palomar Motel — built in 1938 as the Palomar Hotel Courts travel court tourist cabins in Shreveport, the third-largest city in Louisiana — behind New Orleans and Baton Rouge — located in the state’s far-northwest corner near the Texas and Arkansas lines. This is one of the few surviving vestiges of the early boom years of family travel on two-lane highways across the United States long before the nation’s ubiquitous high-speed interstate highway system appeared.
