The 1902 Byerley House in Lake Providence, a town and seat of East Carroll Parish, located on an oxbow of the Mississippi River also called Lake Providence, in northeastern Louisiana. (The state calls its counties “parishes.”) The red-brick, Romanesque Revival-style structure was built as a courthouse and later converted to a residence. Photo by Carol Highsmith, 2020.
