A former general store, said (by neighbors) to have also been a notorious dance hall, in Donaldsonville, a historic and colorful small town that is the seat of Ascension Parish, Louisiana (the state calls its counties "parishes") along the west bank of the Mississippi River. It is one of about 640 vintage buildings in the town's 50-block historic district. Photo by Carol Highsmith, 2021.
