In this image, you can see two reasons why the trail that runs atop a long plateau from north of Rock Springs westward to the city of Green River in Sweetwater County,
Wyoming, is called the Pilot Butte Wild Horse Loop. This is the butte, and these are a few of the horses. Over the years, the Masonic Lodge of Green River held frequent meetings atop the butte. A ladder to the top was installed to facilitate those gatherings. Photo by Carol Highsmith.
