In this image, you can see two reasons why the trail that runs atop a long plateau from north of Rock Springs westward to the city of Green River in Sweetwater County, Wyoming
, is called the Pilot Butte Wild Horse Loop. This is the butte, and these are a few of the horses. Over the years, the Masonic Lodge of Green River held frequent meetings atop the butte. A ladder to the top was installed to facilitate those gatherings. Photo by Carol Highsmith.
