Chadron, NE - Old Blaine Hotel

The old Blaine Hotel, now (as of 2021) a building of rental units in Chadron, a small city but the largest in the northwest corner of Nebraska. The building is famous for two things: its ornate, western-themed wrought-iron balcony railings, and its service as the starting point for the 1,000-mile Great Chadron-to-Chicago horserace by nine Nebraska cowboys (with nicknames such as Cockeyed Bill, Rattlesnake Pete, and Snake Creek Tom) in 1893 that ended at the World's Columbian Exposition (world's fair).
