The old mail station in Shakespeare, New Mexico is alleged to date back to 1856, when it served as a U.S. Army relay station on the mail line. However there are no primary source references, or documentation that shows any settlement was here prior to the Civil War. Photo by Kathy Weiser-Alexander.
