Suburban townhouse developments have spread into the fields around Spanish Fork, a small city below a string of large ones such as Salt Lake City in northern Utah. The community was founded in 1851 as part of the sweeping Mormon Settlement of the Wasatch Mountain Valley. It is named after a canyon and stream down which priests traveled years earlier in search of a trail to Spanish missions in New Mexico and California. Photo by Carol Highsmith, 2022.
