The Great Northern Railway depot in Whitefish, a far-northwest Montana town known as the gateway to Glacier National Park, 26 miles to the east, traces its history to 1892, when it was more modest, and to 1899 when a fire ruined the interior. In 1929, a wholesale renovation transformed the building from an eyesore to a travelers' treasure.
