There are many arguments over the exact spot where East meets West in the United States. Tulsa, Oklahoma, makes its claim, in part, with this scultpure along historic U.S. Route 66 (called “The Mother Road by its aficionados), as it winds through town. Robert Summers’s 2017 “East Meets West” creation in Cyrus Avery Centennial Plaza, named after “The Father of Route 66,” who designated the nation’s first numbered, interstate road and promoted its paving.
