Tulsa, OK - First Oilwell

Tulsa, Oklahoma's first oil well, called the Sue Bland No. 1, was completed in 1901. The rig continues to stand in Red Fork (west Tulsa), behind the Ollie's Station Restaurant, located at 4070 Southwest Boulevard. This oil well brought nation wide publicity and the oil boom to the area, resulting in rapid industrial development and Tulsa's nickname of the "Oil Capital of the World."
