Gettysburg National Military Park, PA - Joseph Sherfy Farmhouse
The historic Joseph Sherfy farmhouse at the Gettysburg National Military Park, in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, which protects and interprets the landscape of the 1863 Battle of Gettysburg during the American Civil War. The park is managed by the National Park Service. The house was owned by Joseph Sherfy and his family, who were pacifists. They provided food and water to Union forces who controlled the Sherfys’ land, which at the time of the battle the included the famous Peach Orchard as well as both Big and Little Round Tops and the Devil’s Den — all sites of famous bloody battles during the collision of forces.
