New York City, NY - Penn Station Interior, 1862

The original Pennyslvania Station in New York City was opened in 1910. By 1945, the station peaked with more than 100 million passengers traveling through each year. It was demolished in 1963, causing international outrage and galvanized the modern historic preservation movement. Photo by Cervin Robinson, 1962.
