The 1845 corner bastion at Fort Vancouver, a U.S. National Historic Site along the Columbia River in Vancouver, Washington. Named for British North American explorer George Vancouver, the fortress was a 19th-century fur-trading post that was the headquarters of the Hudson's Bay Company's Columbia Department.
