Boggsville, CO - Marker

Stone marker denoting Boggsville, the last hometown of legendary western scout Christopher "Kit" Carson -- in Bent County, Colorado. Carson's humble cabin there was destroyed in a flood in 1921. Boggsville, originally a stagecoach stop on the Santa Fe Trail, was named for its principal resident, Thomas Boggs, an Indian trader and cattle dealer. Photo by Carol Highsmith.
