Old Flamingo Motel Sign in
Oklahoma City,
Oklahoma. The Flamingo Motel once stood at 3312 N. Lincoln Boulevard, nine blocks north of the State Captitol. The motel advertised: Choice of four nearby restaurants. Beautifully furnished rooms, TV and radio, room phones, refrigerated air conditioning, thermostatic heat, tub and shower combination tile bath, wall-to-wall carpet. Playground and swimming pool.
At one time Lincoln Boulevard was lined with mid century mom and pop motels. But, in the 1970s, the area began to deteriorate in the 1970s, and one by one the motels closed, including the Flamingo. Photo by John Margolies, 1979.
