Dallas, TX - Oakcliff Texas Theatre

Texas Theatre, a famous Dallas Landmark, is notable for it's place in history regarding Presidential Assassin Lee Harvey Oswald. It was here, in 1963, where Dallas policeman J.D. Trippet was gunned down by Oswald who lived nearby. Oswald was arrested here after a brief struggle with police. Photo by David Fisk.

First opened in 1931, the Texas Theatre was the largest suburban movie theater in Dallas, and was part of a chain of theaters once owned by Howard Hughes. It was the first in the city with air conditioning and featured many other state of the art luxuries.
