Theodore Roosevelt, the hunter by George Grantham Bain, 1885. Perhaps rivaling his passion for politics was Roosevelt’s passion for the wild outdoors. He wrote a book in 1885 called Hunting Trips of a Ranchman, which was his ode to the beauty, vigor and challenges of the Dakota Badlands and frontier life.
