One-room schoolhouse, preserved and displayed in Gaffney,
South Carolina. Built in 1880, the Possom Trot School once stood "out in the country" in a meadow near Gaffney. With the construction of newer, larger schools, Possom Trot School was abandoned and fell into disrepair. In 1969, area resident Louise Phifer Camp hired a local builder to restore the building as a gift toher husband, Bill Camp, who had attended the school with his siblings. In 1992, the school was moved to its current (as of 2017) location near an interstate highway. Photo by Carol Highsmith, 2017.
