Aberdeen, SD - Capitol Cinema

Marquee of the historic Capitol cinema and live-event theater in Aberdeen, a small city in northeast South Dakota that was founded by a railroad executive whose boss was born in Aberdeen, Scotland. Hence the choice of the new town's name. The 450-seat theater opened in 1926 as a vaudeville venue. Photo by Carol Highsmith, 2021.
