Sierra County, NM - Lake Valley Historic Site House
Scene at the Lake Valley Historic Site, now (as of 2021) mostly a ghost mining town in New Mexico. Founded in 1878 after silver was discovered, the site exploded into a boomtown of 4,000 people before losing virtually all its population when the mines played out. Rarely visited, as it is "in the middle of nowhere" far into the Sierra County, New Mexico, desert from any large town, is (as of 2021) being preserved and stabilized by the U.S. Bureau of Land Management.
