The Casa Benevides in Taos, New Mexico, once a sleepy southern Sangre de Cristo Mountains town, inhabited by Native Americans for centuries, that has grown into an art colony, filled with museums and dozens of shops, that is now a worldwide tourist attraction. Originally an art gallery, the building was converted into a bed-and-breakfast inn. Photo by Carol Highsmith, 2021.
