The Chisos Mining Company also owned and operated the entire "new" town of Terlingua, Texas. It ran the large general store, provided a company doctor, operated the post office, the Chisos Hotel, a commissary, erratic telephone service, a dependable water service and this school named after the mining companies founder Howard E. Perry.
