Fort Griffin, TX - Administration Building

Fort Griffin, Texas was a Cavalry fort established in 1867 in Shackelford County, to give settlers protection from early Comanche and Kiowa raids. It also served as a step-off point for many expeditions headed westward, and for a time it had a substantial settled community that built up around it that established a reputation for being one of wildest places in all of the Old West.
