This tribute to Texas hero Sam Houston was designed and constructed by artist David Adickes, who dedicated the statue to the City of Huntsville, Texas on October 22, 1994. The 67-foot concrete-and-steel statue, atop a sunset-granite base, stands alongside Interstate Highway 45 at the Huntsville Visitor Center. Photo by Carol Highsmith, 2014.
