This is a fancy direction sign at the Ocean View fishing pier in Norfolk, the largest city in “Tidewater Virginia” on the Chesapeake Bay and Atlantic Ocean. The pier juts 1620 feet into... not the ocean, despite its name... but the bay. There’s not much difference at this point, near the wide mouth of the Chesapeake as it reaches the sea.
