The old Cass Company Store -- the heart of the old West Virginia Pulp & Paper "company town" of Cass within what is now (2015) the Cass Scenic Railroad State Park in West Virginia. Nearby are old lumber and planing mills and the 11-mile railroad line that carried logs down from the mountainside during the period of widespread logging and deforestation in the early 21st Century. The old logging locomotives now carry carloads of tourists up and down the mountain. Photo by Carol Highsmith.
