Moundville Archaeological Park overlooks the Black Warrior River. A National Historic Landmark, the 320-acre park preserves 26 pre-historic, Mississippian-era Indian mounds. The Jones Archaeological Museum contains exhibits on the culture of Native Americans along with artifacts unearthed during the 1930s excavations. Photo by Carol Highsmith, 2010.
