Kainah (Blood) Camp, 1913

Kainah (Blood - Blackfoot) Camp. For a very long time, the Blackfoot lodge (tipi) was their only dwelling. In ancient times, before they had knives of metal, stones were used to hold down the edges of the lodge, to keep it from being blown away. Photo by Roland Reed, 1913. Vintage image restored by Kathy Weiser-Alexander.
