The imposing Church of Latter-Day Saints (or Mormon) Temple in Manti, a small city sometimes called Manti City), in south-central Utah. The settlement was named by Church of Latter-Day Saints (or Mormon) leader Brigham Young after a city mentioned in the church's Book of Mormon containing the writings of Mormon prophets. Dedicated in 1888, the building, the building, atop a hill that can be seen for miles in the Sanpete Valley, was the third Mormon temple to be constructed west of the Mississippi River.
