Dusk accentuates the nostalgic ambience at the Sunliner Diner, which evokes the look and feel (and milkshakes and burgers and jukebox music) of a 1950s classic diner in Pigeon Forge, a onetime sedate farming community turned quirky entertainment mecca in eastern Tennessee. The long strip of sometimes-wacky venues, which did not achieve city status until 2021, borrows heavily from another tourist town — the country-music and "hillbilly"-themed attractions of Branson in southern Missouri.
