The tiny town of
Guffey, Colorado is located in Park County just off Highway 9 between Canon City and Hartsel. It has a history in mining and the false hopes of a big gold strike.
Guffey has received publicity for electing animals as mayors of the town, although such an office does not officially exist. According to local folklore, the two main political parties in Guffey are called the "Democats" and the "Repuplicans". The last Mayor of Guffey was a cat named Monster.
Today, this small town is filled with historic buildings, and quirky oddities at the Guffey Garage and Last Chance Antiques.
