Chiefs Little Wolf and Dull Knife, Northern Cheyenne
Northern Cheyenne Chiefs Dull Knife (Morning Star) and Little Wolf were famous for defying the U.S. Army in daring escapes from Oklahoma reservations in 1878. They led a group of mostly old men, women and children hundreds of miles on the long march north to their homeland in Montana. Vintage image restored by Kathy Weiser-Alexander.
