A classic corner in St. Joseph, the principal city in the northwest corner of Missouri, which has preserved dozens of such historical structures. Named for both biblical and more recent historical figures — Joseph, the husband of the Virgin Mary and Joseph Robidoux, the community's founder — St. Joseph is best known as the starting point for the Pony Express network of horse-mounted riders who delivered mail throughout the West briefly in the 1860s.
